Every state charges its own fee for a motor vehicle record. It is added to the $25 driver check and depends on the state that issued the volunteer's license. Email us for the current state fee schedule.

Some county courts charge their own access fee. When one of those counties is searched, that fee is added to the order.
+Alias searches are your choice
If the SSN trace finds other names, we email you and you decide. Alias searches are billed separately and only run if you select them. We recommend them only for a legal name change in the last 7 years, such as marriage or divorce.
Moving is covered
One check covers every county a volunteer has lived in over the past 7 years. Sure Check does not charge extra for each move or each state.
How volunteer screening works
Five simple steps from sign up to results. Volunteers complete their own paperwork online, so your team never handles Social Security numbers or paper forms.
Create Your AccountRegister your organization
Click Create Your Account and sign up through the Aging Forward link. Affiliate pricing is built into this link. Most new accounts are approved within an hour.
Invite the volunteer
Log in and choose Order w/ Invitation. Enter the volunteer's name and email, then pick the Volunteer Background Check or the Volunteer Driver Check. Enter the name exactly as it appears on the volunteer's ID and double-check the spelling before you send it.
The volunteer gives consent
The volunteer gets a secure email link, reads the disclosure, signs the authorization, and enters their own information, including their Social Security number. Your team never collects or handles it. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires this signed permission before any check is run. If your account is set up for volunteer pay, the volunteer pays at this step.
Sure Check runs the searches
We confirm identity and past addresses, then search national, county, and sex offender records. For drivers, we also pull the state driving record. If the SSN trace finds other names, we email you and you decide whether to add an alias search. Nothing extra is run unless you select it. Most checks come back within 8 hours.
Review the results
View the finished report in your Sure Check dashboard. If something in a report may lead you to turn a volunteer away, contact us before you decide and we will walk you through the required notice steps.

Any Aging Forward affiliate organization can use it. Register through the Create Your Account button on this page and the affiliate pricing is applied to your account.
What does the $20 volunteer background check include?
An SSN trace to confirm identity and past addresses, a nationwide criminal database search, a sex offender registry search, and county criminal searches going back 7 years. County searches are included on an unlimited basis.
When should we use the $25 volunteer driver check?
Use it for any volunteer who drives as part of your program, such as rides to medical appointments, errands, or meal delivery. It includes everything in the volunteer check plus a motor vehicle record (MVR) that shows license status, suspensions, and moving violations. The state MVR fee is billed on top of the $25 and depends on the state that issued the license.
What fees can be added on top of the package price?
There are no setup fees, monthly fees, or minimums. Three things can add to the price of a check: the state fee on every driving record, a court access fee in counties that charge one, and any alias searches you choose to add. If a volunteer has lived in several states, do we pay more?
No. One check covers every county the volunteer has lived in over the past 7 years, and Sure Check does not charge extra for each move or each state. The only exception is a county court that charges its own access fee, which is added to the order.
Will we be charged for alias or other name searches?
Only if you choose them. When the SSN trace finds other names a volunteer has used, you get an email and decide whether to add those searches. Each alias you add is billed separately, and nothing is added automatically. We recommend alias searches only for a legal name change in the last 7 years, such as marriage or divorce. Before you send an invitation, make sure the name matches the volunteer's ID exactly so the check is run on the right name.
Does our organization have to collect Social Security numbers?

How long does a volunteer background check take?
Most checks come back within 8 hours. A few county courts still pull records by hand, so a small number of checks can take longer.
How do we track invitations and orders?
Log in to your client portal and go to Applicants, then Applicant Manager, to see every invitation and which ones are complete. You can delete invitations a volunteer has not responded to. Each order is billed when it is submitted.
